SKILL ACQUISITION AND TRAINING
Reinforcing our Commitment
Skill acquisition is the ability to be trained on a particular task or function and become expert in it. It is a pity that there is ‘huge parading’ of unemployment in many parts of the world today. This hot potato (current issue under discussion, unemployment) is giving many youths in different parts of the world sleepless nights. It is one of the causes of rapid growth in crimes in many parts of the world.
The Importance of Skill Acquisition
Skill is like key used in opening door of fortune. As water is very essential to human life; so is skill needed in the life of every serious minded human being. Skills can do a lot of great work in the life of every living soul. Lack of skills is a major cause of corruption. The importance of skill acquisition includes self employment, diverse job opportunities, employment generation, effective function, and crime reduction.
Self-employment: A skill acquired man is a self-employed man. The piece you are reading right now is written as a result of the skill acquired by the writer. There are so many self-employed writers today who do not bother themselves of carrying files from one office to another in search of job. Their duty is freelance writing and they make great money from their writing. In the same vein, many successful businessmen and woman whose names are heard in many parts of the world are self-employed. A self employed person can never go hungry because the skill he acquired provides food for him or her on daily basis. But one who lacks skill acquisition will find it difficult to be self employed because he or she has nothing to offer.
We will be equipping the youths with relevant skills which will give them an edge to be employed or self employed.Our main focus will be;
1. ICT ( Data base management, web design, network administration and others).
2. Health, safety and environment (HSE) his a very important skill in the oil sector which is booming in the Niger Delta region, any youth with such skills can easily be gainfully employed in the oil and gas sector.
3. Welding, fabrication and pipe fitting. This is also a very import skill needed by youths in the Niger Delta as many oil and gas firms needs their service but onshore and offshore as well as the construction company.
4. Agriculture.This sector has long been neglected by both government and citizens of Nigeria in the Yeats following the oil boom.There is the need to educate young people on the importance of agriculture in our local communities.
SANITATION

At MP DIRI INITIATIVE, we ensure that the communities we are working with embrace good sanitation habit.We encourage the populace to keep their environment clean in other to prevent the spread of disease.We also discourage open air defecation along the water ways.
CLIMATE CHANGE EDUCATION/AWARENESS
Reinforcing our Commitment
We will be partnering with schools in the local communities to educate the young minds on the effects of climate change to our environment.Education is an essential element of the global response to climate change. It helps people understand and address the impact of global warming, increases “climate literacy” among young people, encourages changes in their attitudes and behaviour, and helps them adapt to climate change related trends. Education and awareness-raising enable informed decision-making, play an essential role in increasing adaptation and mitigation capacities of communities, and empower women and men to adopt sustainable lifestyles.
